Russian Federation breaks ground at Expo 2020 on 18th November, 2019 to declare the start of construction for one of the largest pavilions at Expo 2020. The ground breaking ceremony officially marks the beginning of construction of Russia Pavilion that will feature culture, innovation, creativity and use the latest technologies in an ‘architecturally unique design’.
The ground breaking ceremony took place in the presence of Russian Federation Ministry including H.E. Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade, H.E.Commissioner General of Russian Pavilion Aleksey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry & Trade, H.E. Sergey Kuznetsov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to UAE, H.E. Oleg Fomin, Consel General of the Russian Federation in Dubai, Mr. Yusuf Khanukaev, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign, Mr. Nikolay Lapkovskiy, Vice Consel, Mr. Aleksandr Levin, Director General, Autonomous Nonprofit Organisation, National Exhibition, Oleg Yevtushenko, Executive Director Rostec and Mr. Aras Agalarov, President, Crocus Group.
Her Excellency Reem al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, H.E. Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, welcomed the Russian Federation representatives to commence construction of the Russian pavilion.
Denis Manturov said, “The Russian Pavilion will be one of the largest at Expo 2020. It will be a technologically unique spherical design with a height of more than 25 meters”. He also affirmed that, “Most of the façade elements will be manufactured using the latest technologies, many of which will be used for the first time in the construction of such structures”.
As the Russia Pavilion aims to open doors to the future and will hold great significance for future generations, a time capsule was buried by Mr. Aras Agalarov, President of Crocus Group, who will be heading the construction of the pavilion.
Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali confirmed the strong presence of Russia at Expo 2020, as he said: “We are sure that the Russia Pavilion, with its focus on innovation and future shaping technologies, will be one of Expo 2020’s most popular pavilions and add to the excitement of what visitors can expect to see at the Expo.”
The Russia pavilion will be located in Mobility District of Expo 2020 site and will be occupying 4562.70 square meters with the height of 27 meters. The pavilion is designed by architects Tchoban Speech and Simpateka Entertainment Group. The pavilion will exhibit the latest technologies that will shape future possibilities for the visitors at Expo 2020.
