Expo 2020 has been postponed to next year and will be opening it’s gates from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. This decision was made following a two-thirds majority of Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Member States that voted in favour of postponing the next World Expo by one year.
With the COVID-19 crisis sweeping the world, it is vital that we collectively focus on regaining our safer and healthier world. The world’s greatest show will take place as promised to offer solutions and connecting the future in the post-pandemic world.
In its official statement, Expo 2020 Dubai declared that “We welcome this final decision, which allows participating countries around the globe to safely navigate the impact of COVID-19. This additional time also allows us to prepare to welcome a more united and resilient world in 2021, where we will collectively celebrate culture, creativity, and innovation”.
